My timing was such to reach the L family in New Delhi in time for us all to take off for the Pushkar Camel Fair. The Camel Fair is one of those must see and do items, that Tom was not at all interested in! But since I was a guest and wanted to do this, he arranged for the trip. It was everything he dreaded it would be!
The first part of the adventure was the train trip, which must have taken most of the night to travel 427 km/265 miles to Ajmer. We actually had seats, where most people sit on the roof or hang in the doorways. We were pulled by a steam locomotive, with cinders flying in through open windows. You don't dare close the windows due to problems of suffocating. We were traveling into the desert, and it was hot and humid.

A deluxe tent had a carpet on the ground and a cot for a bed. And look at those tents; there is no ventilation!
